JSH01 The remote sensing of the
Cryosphere (July 7 and 8)
Joint Symposium IAHS (ICSI, ICRS), IAMAS, IAPSO
Techniques of remote sensing are proving
valuable research tools in tracking the evolution of the Cryosphere and in
elucidating processes for the development of models for cryospheric systems.
Topics of interest solicited for this Symposium include the remote sensing of:
snow accumulation and ablation; the physical structure and dynamics of glaciers
and ice caps; inputs to snow and glacier melt runoff models; sea, lake and
river ice; frozen ground; the assessment of climatic change effects in cold
regions. Presentations on remote sensing/cryospheric research inputs to
international programs such as HELP, GEWEX, WWAP, and CliC/WCRP are
particularly welcome.
