Abstract This paper proposes a coupling model for dealing with the flooding problems of the Beijiang River based on the integration of hydrology and hydraulics. A numerical flow computation model was established to tackle the complexity of flooding characteristics in the Feilaixia reservoir basin. Field investigation confirms that the proposed model can produce satisfactory results by providing useful information for flood control and scheduling.
